Dance, Movement, and Gesture Kealiinohomoku Award

The Dance, Movement, Gesture Section of the Society for Ethnomusicology invites submissions for the Dance, Movement, and Gesture Kealiinohomoku Award.

Purpose: To recognize an outstanding piece of ethnomusicological work (broadly defined) that substantially engages the topics of dance, movement, and/or gesture.

Eligibility: This award is open to any SEM member. Eligible work includes books, editions, published articles and book chapters, papers read at conferences, course syllabi and other teaching materials, as well as scholarly and creative work in non-print media.

Prize: A cash prize not to exceed $150.

Regularity: Annually.

Administration: The award is administered by the Society for Ethnomusicology’s Dance, Movement, and Gesture Section. It is judged by a committee of five members.

Application Process: All submissions should be made in electronic format (including any supporting audio-visual examples) via e-mail to the committee co-chairs.

Deadline: December 31st for submissions; the prize will be awarded and announced at the SEM Annual Meeting of the following year
